Wednesday October 16: LAB 5: Tools for Listening, part 2

Kevin Beasley via ArtNet

What are the interfaces of black boxed digital tools? How might digital tools be leveraged for purposes different than what they were designed for — specifically for building community and promoting collectivity?

How might tools promote new forms of sensing — perhaps even open up new epistemologies and ontologies? How do we interact with our tools differently when we make them ourselves, using shared materials? How might we combine tools into assemblages to produce new effects?

Lab: Continue Tools for Listening lab

Tools used: Portable recorders, contact microphones, tactile transducers, amps
